IV NAD+ is an intravenous infusion of nicotinamide adenine dinucleotide. NAD+ is a vital cofactor in the production of energy in every cell of your body. Without NAD+, your mitochondria cannot produce energy inside the cells.

NAD+ is present in 2 forms, NAD+, the oxidized form, and NADH, the reduced form. During production of energy, NAD+ is converted between the two forms.

As the body produces energy, it sometimes loses control of the electrons, which produces free radicals-think of this as damaging pollution inside your cells. The free radicals damage other parts of your cell, and if there is enough, the free radicals will kill the cell.

In order to counter the effects of free radical damage, NAD+ can be converted into NADPH. NADPH produces an antioxidant known as glutathione. Glutathione protects the cell from free radical damage by neutralizing the free radicals.

So, NAD+ is essential in both the production of energy in the cell, and the protection of the cell from oxidant (or free radical) damage.

Because many disease processes are caused or made worse by free radical damage, or poor energy production in the mitochondria, NAD+ can help with many conditions.
